University Description
Changchun University is located in Changchun, Jilin Province, known as the “Spring city in the North”. It is a provincial comprehensive university with profound heritage and distinctive characteristics.
The former Changchun Industrial Accounting and Statistics School was founded in 1949 by the former Ministry of Industry of the Northeast People’s Government. It trained the first batch of industrial accounting and statistics talents for new China. In the process of national development and times change, the school changed its name several times and was renamed Jilin Mechanical and Electrical College in 1983. 1987 With the approval of the former National Education Commission, the former Jilin University of Science and Technology, Jilin Mechanical and Electrical College, Changchun Foreign Language College, and Changchun Vocational University were merged to form Changchun University. In August 2000, the former Jilin Forestry School was merged.
The university now has three campuses, covering a total area of 1.02 million square meters, with 21 teaching departments, 60 undergraduate programs, 6 first-level master’s degree programs, and 10 professional master’s degree programs. The program covers ten disciplines including economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management and art. At present, there are 17,525 full-time students in the school.
The school has 865 full-time teachers, including 120 senior teachers and 291 deputy senior teachers. There are 259 teachers with doctor’s degree and 496 teachers with master’s degree. The university has 48 high-level talents, such as senior experts directly connected with the Central Government, experts with Outstanding Contributions, recipients of special Allowance of The State Council, New Century Talents of the Ministry of Education, National Technical Expert, provincial senior experts, provincial Top Innovative Talents, provincial experts with Outstanding Contributions, Changbai Mountain scholars, Changbai Mountain Skilled Teachers and so on.

Based on the actual industrial structure of Northeast China and Jilin Province, the university has built two state-level scientific research platforms, the National Soybean Deep Processing Technology Research and Promotion Center and the Jilin Branch of the National Soybean Engineering Technology Research Center.
