University Description
Jinzhou Medical University was born during the War of Liberation. The predecessor of the school was the Liaoji Military Region Health School established in Taonan City, Jilin Province in 1946. In 1949, it moved to Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. Jinzhou Medical College was established in 1958 and was renamed Liaoning Medical College in 2006. In 2007, he passed the evaluation of the undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China with excellent results. In March 2016, approved by the Ministry of Education, it was officially renamed Jinzhou Medical University. After 75 years of development, it has become a provincial general institution of higher learning with multiple disciplines, multiple levels, and multiple forms of education.
The campus covers an area of 994,987.60 square meters. There are three types of education: general higher education, adult education and international education; there are 6 disciplines of medicine, engineering, agriculture, science, management, and education; there are 25 undergraduate majors. The school became a master’s degree-granting unit in 1984. In 1999, it obtained the qualification to apply for the right to grant a master’s degree for persons with the same academic ability. There are currently 8 master’s degree authorization first-level disciplines, 58 second-level master’s degree authorization points, and 5 master’s professional degrees Authorized point; approved by the Ministry of Education in 2003, it has jointly cultivated doctoral students with China Medical University. Now it has jointly established doctoral programs with Jinan University, Soochow University, and Dalian Medical University, hiring 21 doctoral supervisors for clinical medicine.
The school has 2 national high-level talents, 1 winner of the National Teaching Teacher Award, 3 members of the Teaching Guidance Committee of Higher Schools of the Ministry of Education, 1 national candidate for the New Century Talent Project, and winner of the State Council Special Government Allowance 23 There are 3 outstanding experts in Liaoning Province, 4 selected for the “Liaoning Provincial Higher Education Climbing Scholars Support Program”, and 12 winners of the Liaoning Famous Teaching Teacher Award.
The school has always adhered to the central position of teaching work, based on building morality, continuously deepening teaching reform, strengthening teaching management, improving the quality of talent training, and achieving fruitful teaching results. The school currently has 2 national-level first-class undergraduate majors, 1 national-level characteristic major, 1 national-level comprehensive reform pilot major, 5 provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction points, 3 provincial-level comprehensive reform pilot majors, and provincial level There is 1 pilot major for engineering talent training mode reform, 1 provincial-level innovation and entrepreneurship education reform pilot major, 3 provincial-level demonstration majors, and 5 provincial-level characteristic (brand) majors. There are 14 provincial-level quality courses, 7 provincial-level quality resource sharing and video open courses, and 6 provincial-level teaching teams. There are 8 provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 5 provincial-level virtual simulation experimental teaching demonstration centers, 3 provincial-level virtual simulation experimental teaching projects, and 12 provincial-level practical education bases for college students.
The school conforms to the development trend of international medical education. In 1991, it took the lead to carry out the reform of the medical curriculum model of “organ system-centered” in China, breaking the traditional curriculum model of “discipline-centered”, and providing a foundation for the reform of higher medical education in my country. The successful example created a situation where multiple curriculum models of higher medical education in my country coexisted. It was highly valued by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, and was approved by the Ministry of Education as a “reform project of teaching content and curriculum model for higher medical education in the 21st century”. This reform won two second prizes for national teaching achievement and two first prizes for teaching achievement in Liaoning Province.
The school currently has 12,509 full-time students, including 8832 undergraduates. It is now recruiting students from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across the country. The ranking of students in 2020 continues to improve. The province’s five-year medical backbone majors in clinical medicine, stomatology, medical imaging, and anesthesiology are among the top 20% of the province; the scores of upgrades in 7 provinces and cities are higher than a control line. The scores of 9 provinces and cities were higher than the control line by more than 100 points. The school began to recruit international students in 1997. In 2012, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as a “Qualified College for Studying in China for Clinical Medicine in English”. In 2014, it was officially listed as a “Chinese Government Scholarship for International Students in China” by the Ministry of Education. In 2015, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as a “Qualification College for Recruiting Students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.” The school actively connects with the national “One Belt One Road” strategy. The total number of source countries has reached 75, with 1061 international students. In 2020, the proportion of international students will be released by the software. Ranked eighth in the country, the level of international education remains at the forefront of colleges and universities in the province.
